i find it difficult to increase the length and width of my working space unlike flash where i can easy do that, is there a way i can size my work space (stage) in anime?

File | Project Settings. It's in the manual.

Also if you use vectors you could shrink your art and then use the camera to frame the scene, so that frame will fill the video screen no matter the working space
