My First Animated Short Film!

Hey guys,

Just did my first short film with Anime Studio Pro 11. It's called, "Hat - Episode 1 - The Awakening."
Premise: a man gets a text message from his hat: "We need to talk."
It all takes place in Paris, France. Did the whole thing myself. Music, too. Took almost 2 months.

Still have lots to learn, but I had a ball. Love to get some feedback.

Thanks.

Still got a lot to learn about Anime Studio. But I was very happy with the way it came out. Working on episode 2 now.

I used a combination of things.
If I did the art in Clip Studio Paint Pro, and I needed an extreme closeup, I'd just create another drawing. That way the resolution would still look good.

Sometimes I did the drawings in ASP. I used whatever I could that would do the job the best way and the fastest way.
Some of the zooming was with the camera in AS. I think I did a bit in Final Cut Pro X, too. Don't remember.

I do put it all together in Final Cut. SFX, music, animation. Then I add some effects in FCP. The old film look was a plugin in Final Cut.

i see sometimes you need more then one program to get the job done , great work

Yes.
I use PhotoShop (a bit), Clip Studio Paint Pro, Corel Painter (for backgrounds, usually) and ASP 11 for the animation.
I use Digital Performer for all my audio work (my background is in the music business) and then put it all together in Final Cut Pro X.

Thanks. Glad you like it.

OK. Took just one month for this episode.

My 2nd episode of my series, "HAT," is now on YouTube. Hope you like it.

You say your next episode will feature Sigmund Freud; are you aware of the famous psychiatric case of the man who mistook his wife for a hat? (I love your backgrounds, by the way).

Ha!

I wasn't aware of that. I'll have to google it.

Thanks.

These are great pieces of work. I am enjoying their relationship & the comic humour.

Looking forward to future instalments.

OK.
Got another animated short up on YouTube.
It's got limited animation but is relying on the story to pull it off.

Let me know what you think.
