Fixing weird flexing when working with image layers?

So I have been rigging this character and it all looks nice. But when I flex the character's limbs, the flexing looks weird. I know for a fact that if working with vectors I could simply make actions for the specific vector points of the layer linked to the bone and arrange them so these would look right when I flex the character articulations. But since I'm making most of my characters outside of Moho in image layers since I cannot get around working with vectors, is there any way to slightly warp that part of the layer so when I flex any of the articulations enough it doesn't gives me this weird concave shape?

Look up "smooth joint" in the user manual. You can also find videos in an internet search.

It certainly looks a lot better now. I'm pleased with how the the elbows flex now, but the knees (even looking much more how I wanted to) are having this pointy shape:

I cannot seem to find a way to change the parameters of the smoot joints (if there's any) that would allow me to fix this. Is there a way to do so?

The joints should look smoother when you render them.

Yes, what Wes said--Smooth Joint will look better when rendered. I use Smooth Joint frequently at work. It can look surprisingly good even with detailed image textures.

When Smooth Joint fails, I'll switch over to Smart Mesh, which lets you take advantage of Smart Bones for correcting joint errors like the one you posted. Basically, you can edit the warping mesh just like working with Vectors. Note that you may need to create a higher resolution mesh than the one Moho generates internally for image layers.

Yeah, that's true. Well, thank you a lot for all the help!
I'll also try the Smart Mesh. I'm just starting with Moho but all the advice I can get is really helpful!

Try using vector layers as patch in the joints. You can then use smart bones on the vector layers. Because your raster layers don't have gradients it should be fairly simple to apply.
