Not sure why community content has an extension of .anme vs. .anime but is it true that for references to work correctly, the file should be converted and saved first as .anime? thx!

.anme was the extension in AS6 to AS10. The file contents were plain text in a proprietary format.
.anime is the extension in AS11. This is a compressed file that contains the project file in plain text but in a different (open standard) format (JSON) and a thumbnail.
You can't rename .anme to .anime - the file won't be readable.
If you're on V11 - this will open any .anme and when you save the file it will, by default, be saved in the new format.
hope that helps.

Ths for that. I was importing the .anme as a referenced file, but that dunna work. As when you go out to edit the original, it gets converted and wants to be saved back as .anime, thus breaking the reference link. But I figured out that by just editing the file first and saving in the V11 format before importing into a scene, all is well after that.
