Bake smart bones transformation for FBX?

I know that smart bone deformation is not visible in exported fbx. Is there any script/trick to bake this point transformation into fbx files?

Rudigers old Morph Dials script had a menu item to 'bake' the current state to points... it could probably be adapted to bake any layer into hard point positions but I wouldn't have a clue how! I'm sure someone cleverer than me will have some ideas?

In the package available at viewtopic.php?t=14122 there is a menu script called 'rt_bake_morph_dials.lua' - I expect the solution is in there!
