Ideas for Financing Animation Projects

I noticed a very interesting video recently posted by Sun Creature Studio, creators of the popular short "The Reward" which they are expanding into "Tales of Alethrion."
When I first saw this video about a week ago, their patreon support was just under $500 per month. Now, a few days later, it is $798 per month. I think this financing model is pretty clever. I'll be very interested to see if they can get their monthly support high enough to cover their team's living expenses.
