 I'm hoping someone can help me with a crazy problem I'm having with styles. The problem is that when I change layers my styles get altered :o I have no idea what caused it or how to fix it. I've seen this happen a couple of times, but I'm now sure what causes things to break.

Thanks for any help.

I'm assuming the styles somehow got corrupted. Here's how to fix it. Select a style to edit and then go to create a new style (the last selected style properties will still be showing). I named the new styles shirt2, skin2, coat2. Delete the old styles, rename these to shirt, skin, coat, and apply these new ones. Should fix the problem.

Thanks synthsin75. I was afraid I'd have to recreate the styles. :( Of course that's fine for a few styles, but it makes me nervous what might happen if I have a lot of styles and something get's corrupted. I'm still hoping I can figure out what caused the issue.

Based on your feedback I tried some things. I saved the styles in the library and then loaded them into a new file. Even though all three styles were listed, only the shirt showed up when I loaded it up. I'm wondering if I renamed a style instead of selecting new, when I created coat and skin.

I'll do some more testing, but if anyone else has had this problem I'd be interested in what they see. I'll update if I find out anything else.

I took another look, and still can't figure out how to repeat the problem. If you disable GPU acceleration in the display settings, these shapes don't revert to the shirt style...unless you undo something. On a hunch, I saved the file as v10. Version 10 file doesn't have the problem, so I saved it again as v11. Now all seems fixed...without recreating any styles. Maybe recreating any v11 features would be easier than recreating countless styles.

Tried exporting the styles, deleting them and reimporting, but that didn't work. Looking at the exported style file, all the styles have the same unique ID, so AS is displaying the first one it finds with that ID for all styles. If you delete the shirt style, all shapes become skin styled. No idea how AS ended up using the same unique ID for all styles.

Thanks for taking a look at this synthsin75, and for the work around suggestions. Saving as v10 and then loading and saving as v11 is a good option to consider. I think I definitely need to be careful when creating styles.

I may just report this to Tech Support (bug) with a link to my file so that at least they can see the issue.

I've tried a number of things and still can't reproduce the issue. There must be a very specific set of steps that cause the problem. I'll keep trying, but haven't found them yet. Thanks for the input.
