Anyone know why ASP will not use QuickTime at 4K resolutions?

Perhaps because 4k is HUUUUGGGGGE?

QT is not supported in the 64 bit version. You will have to open the file in 32 bit to render in QT.

No, my AS 64bit v11 renders to QT without problem, on OS 10.9.

I rendered 4 sec of the dragon in 1920p, using 4 cores, in about 20 sec. Then I changed the project settings to 4000 x 2250. This rendered with only 1 core and took several minutes. The resulting file was exactly that size and a QT file (ProRes 422 codec). So, it works here.

I believe this is the case only with the Windows version of Quicktime. Some Windows programs, like Fusion, can render QT in the x64 version because of custom internal coding but many others, like ASP, must use the x32 version.

If you need ProRes on Windows, I like to use a standalone transcoder called FootageStudio 4k. It works great! Just write out an uncompressed or lossless codec file (like Lagarith or PNG) and feed it through FootageStudio using the ProRes or Avid variant of your choice. It can do a lot of other neat tricks too.
