Hey! I think you have a bunch of these threads already but i couldn't find them at the moment. I've been working on this scene for a new series on AS9.5. I saved it, closed the program and when i woke up the next day and opened it. I just got this message:

Could not open file.
Error details:
Unknown keyword:0 at line 1310029

I really don't want to lose this so is there a way to save it. I opened it on notepad to check the codes but i'm totally hopeless here.
Plus that this has happened to me earlier and i want to know how to avoid this sort of thing in the future.

Ugh, I hate when that happens. I haven't seen that kind of error in a long time but after the first couple of times it happened to me, I made sure to save many incremented versions of a scene when working on it. Sorry, I know that's not much help at this point.

Do you use AutoSave? That usually helps me recover a scene but arguably it can save a bad file too. Again, remember to save incrementally (_001, _002, _003, etc.,) often. (I do that for every animation and compositing program I use, especially when I'm at work.)

It would be cool if the devs can add an incremental AutoSave option. This feature has saved my butt a handful of times in the 3D program I use.

As for recovering the corrupted file you have now, open it in a text editor and compare the text with an existing doc for reference. If you have an earlier version of the file, that would be best--maybe you can isolate what's missing or corrupted and simply copy and paste data to fix it. (Always work with copies of your files.) If there is almost no data in the file, then it's probably not recoverable.

If this file is mission critical to your work or production, maybe you can get somebody from tech support to look at the file?

At very least, take it in as a learning experience and remember to save many versions next time.

If all else fails, you can post a link to the file here (or PM me if it can't be shared publicly) and one of us who are familiar with the file format can see what can be saved.

Thanks for your tip, really. But don't know anything about the autosave thing. You mean the restoration feature if you didn't properly close the program? Otherwise i don't know of any auto save feature.

Yeah, I guess that's what I meant. ASP doesn't have an incremental autosave like AfterEffects and some other animation programs I use.

I'm not sure if the autosave that exists now in ASP saves periodically or only during a crash. It has saved me from frustration quite a few times though.
