Newbie needs help with masking - odd transparency

Created a mouth mask following steps via instruction on youtube, but getting this odd transparency when rendering. Any help greatly appreciated. Not sure what I'm doing wrong

Check if:
-- shape transparency is at 100%.
-- layer transparency is at 100%
-- layer blending mode is normal.
