In Papagayo, as soon as I load the vista.wav file (from tutorial), the sound of my entire computer goes off and I hear faint click and pops.

I have the M-Audio FW-410 audio device. In the preferences panel it show the internal sync is switched to 192000 Hz (from 48000). Even shutting down the computer and restarting doesn't get the audio back.

I had to switch the sample rate back to 48000 (by playing with the internal/external sync and coaxial/optical buttons), but then the sound was distorted and only got back to normal by rebooting again. It may be a core audio problem?

I have the latest driver for the FW410, OS X 10.4.3

Sounds like a CoreAudio or driver problem. Papagayo may be triggering a previously unknown bug, but no driver or operating system should allow a user program to disable an audio device even after a reboot.
