Smart dials. What am I doing wrong?

HI

I'm having a problem with smart dials.
Once I create the bone, constraints, name it. Then I create the action but when I try to select the vector file I want to manipulate the action menu drops out off the menu for the bone and open a new menu for the vector I've just selected.
I've followed a few tutorials but I'm obviously doing something wrong but have no idea what it is.
Can anyone help please?

Hello :)
Make sure that the vector layers are under the bone layer, and that you are on the parent bone layer when creating the action - this should create the action for all child layers.

Thanks for the reply Funks.
I've attached a pic of my layer order. I'm trying to assign the smart dial to the pupils. For this to work, I should move everything that is in the "Rico Front Head" directly under the bone layer?
Just checking before I try it.

I must be doing something really wrong.

When I make the action for the bone the manipulate bone tool is greyed out
Any ideas?

Don't worry. It's normal. Use the Transform Bone tool instead.
The software hides the Manipulate bone tool when you are inside a smart bone action, to avoid rotating any undesired bone with it.
