This is one of the final backgrounds to a short animation that looks like it's never going to be made!
It's for this month's competition on the Animation Studio Tutorials site, "Happy Horse".
As a kid I grew up with the Hanna Barbera cartoons, including Quick Draw McGraw, so I wanted to make a sort of homage to their work.
I have to say it's not particularly original -- everything you see here has been ripped off from somewhere or other!
But anyway, be interested to hear what you think...

Looks awesome!

I had a smile as soon as I saw "Quick Draw"

What a gorgeous background! I hope you do get a chance to animate something with it, even if it's not for the competition.

Thanks, dudes! I don't know if anything will finally come of it.

For what it's worth, here is the 'screenplay' that I was going to use (complete with punning title):

HOSS-BEEN
=========
INT - MIDDAY. ALMOST DESERTED SALOON BAR
Bleary-eyed Quick Draw leaning on bar, liquor bottle and glass in front of him (confidentially): "I used to be famous, y'know"
Bartender (polishing glass distractedly): "Yeah. I know."
QD: "Until the network can..."
Bartender (still polishing glass): "...cancelled your show. Yeah, that must have been tough"
QD: "All the hay I could eat, chorus girls hangin' on every word, stretch..."
Bartender (more short-tempered now): "...stretch stagecoach. Yeah. I know, I know."
"An' everyone would be pleased to buy me a drink..."
Pan around almost deserted saloon -- dry cough. Big lug drinking morosely sitting at bar is nearest customer.
Medium close-up of Quick Draw's head slamming down onto bar. Hat rolls off.
CU Bartender -- he motions to big lug.
They both hold QD horizontally by neckerchief and gunbelt and prepare to give him the bum's rush.
CU Quick Draw holding up hoof (oblivious to his predicament): "I was involved in many tales of derring..."
EXT - MIDDAY. SMALL SOUTH WEST TEXAS TOWN
"...dooooohhffff!!!"
Worm's eye view of crunched-up face against ground, with saloon in BG, doors swinging a couple of times.
Pan sideways from face -- QD still has bottle in hand. His hat sails over swing doors and lands in front of him.
Still low viewpoint -- rear shot in silhouette of QD walking unsteadily towards life-size El Kabong statue on plinth in BG
High shot from top of statue down onto QD
BCU Quick Draw's face from above -- his eyes narrow.
QD climbs unsteadily onto bench underneath statue.
Tottering, he manages to stand precariously on top of bench so that his face is level with the statue.
Medium shot of his miserable face pressed against El Kabong statue's happy face. (They are just about identical in profile)
QD, ranting drunkenly (medium close-up): "I used to be a happy horse!"
Medium shot in profile of him losing his footing
Down shot of him spreadeagled under the statue, still holding liquor bottle. He starts to snore.
Medium close-up of statue's happy face. Fade out...

THE END

Strange. I just tried the link again and it works fine for me. It's a .png file -- that shouldn't be a problem, should it? (And thanks for the comment about the script!)

Never mind me - it's a dropbox link and those are blocked by the filter here at work, I should've realized.

Background looks great and I love the concept and script. :)

I only recall ever seeing a little bit of QD in my lifetime and I can't place when or where, but this was a nice segment for a refresher course.

For some reason El Kabong never made it over to England in the early 60's, so I only found out about Quick Draw's 'alter ego' later on! I must say I love that Kabong guitar sound...

I grew up watching those cartoons. The last name is McGrew and sometimes kids would call me Quick Draw or "Mr Magoo" :D
