At last

Hi everyone!
I, for once, will not share unorthodox 12fps animation made with ASP here, but real vectorial attempts. :)
Been practicing for a little while now, and to be true Victor Paredes's very stimulating webinars have helped a lot. Huge thanks to him!
No Youtube videos yet, but a temporary series of animated gifs :

Hoping those few first attempts will somewhat look comforting to those of you who did not understand why I insisted on working on ASP : everything happens in due time! :)
Back to work, still got a lot of progress to make...
Thanks for your patience & kind advice.

Those are really good first attempt, I suspect that animation in general isn't too new to you! Or you are a incredible fast l
earner

Oh, perhaps should I have been more explicit about former "12fps animations" indeed : I have actually been working as a freelance animator for 10 years (started from scratch in 2004), although in a more traditional way, with a handmade lightboard, pencils and paper, and have more recentely switched to "halfway vectorial" animation, including 2D stopmotion elements.
Those are actually my first fully vectorial attempts, after 6 monthes of inconstant practising (I am also a cartoonist and illustrator).
Here is an overview of my former works :

Thanks for your encouraging feedback however! :)

PS - Would anyone know how to avoid appearing/vanishing fishes in the background of the dive sequence above please ? I cannot seem to find the proper setting for that particle layer. Thanks again!

Looks incredible and the appearing/disappearing fish caught me eye, but I'm not at my home computer with AS on it so I can't check right now. Hopefully someone can chime in.

Thanks a lot Danimal and Baphomet!! :)

As for the particle issue, my current layer settings are set the following way :

Lifetime : 240 (for a total sequence lentgh of 240 frames)
Velocity : 0
Velocity spread : 0
Damping : 0
On at start : checked
Full speed start : checked
All other parameters (orient particles, free-floating, evenly spaced) are unchecked.
Spread : 20
Rate : 0

I couldn't notice any difference with the randomize playback option checked though, and still wonder how to solve this...

Thanks again for your kind feedback!

I'll look into the settings dear Cableon. And let you know if I find anything that could be of any help regarding to your problem.

By the way, would you be interested in becoming member of a team I am creating at the moment, to do a pilot for an animated cartoon series? PM me or look at this topic when interested: -> viewtopic.php?f=16&t=26553

Your lifetime is too short. If your particles start at full speed, some of that lifetime will already be used up when the animation starts. I'd probably double the lifetime and simply increase the particle count to get the desired density of the school.

Thanks Synthsin75!
Wouldn't there be any other way to proceed than make the sequence longer and increase the number of particles however ? For instance by making the particles' lifetime itself a bit longer ?
It seemed to me, from former works, that there might be a specific parameter to set, but couldn't find it again in the ASP10 manual, nor by tweaking my particle layer settings...
Thanks for your advice though! I am going to try and put your advice into practice on a separate, lighter test-sequence, that will take less time to render.
Any additional clues to set a layer with "constant" particles will be very welcome as well! :)
And thanks again for your kind feedback!

I didn't say "make the sequence longer", I said make the particle lifetime longer.

cableon, I've admired your work online. I haven't seen anything else quite like it. Glad to see you in the forum. You may be able to get close to that style of animation with AS.
