Crashes crashes crashes

It is 9pm here and for the past 4 hours I've been trying to export the same very simple elements on alpha. It crashes no matter what I do. It evens sometimes gives me stupid messages like "uh oh, that ain't right". What the heck? You think I'm in the mood to have you speak to me in ebonics? Who can I punch in the face right now? Where do I send my invoice?

I'm sorry but I could put up with small crashes here and there but this is absurd. You're making people loose money.

I finally did it. With the most absurd work arounds ever. I can only thank my other softwares to make up for this stupid thing.

Notes fore future release:

- You need to make it much more stable and fix whatever issue you have going on with Shadowing and alpha renders.

- Stop having it uncheck layers for no good reasons.

- Loose the "ain't" and "Uh, oh!", really. I don't know how you could think being quirky would calm down an angry user. It's a clear lack of empathy on your part. When I mess up and fail on my promises, I'm usually very polite to the people I cause prejudice to.

It was my only chance to go out tonight. Thanks smith micro.

Can you explain exactly how to reproduce your problem and what version of AS are you using? I can make a report about it.

Thank you Selgin. but I really don't have time right now and I need to move on with my work.

I will eventually (perhaps tomorrow). I'm not sure if I should send it to the smithmicro website or somewhere here but they really need to look at my logs at some point.

I'm on the latest and most biffed up macbookpro with version 10, I eliminated all possibilities of user error, taking off all other layers to keep that tiny little group I really needed on alpha, and still I have to waste my time keyframing pngs in another compositing software to fill in for the frames asp just wouldn't export.

But it gets to the level of true insult when the error messages popping up try to be cool and familiar. I purchased a software from them, I haven't met anyone in person even less befriended anybody, nor has it ever been my intention. I don't know what gives them the right to talk to me like I'm their homie when I'm pulling my hairs out and just telling my wife she can take off her make-up cause we have to cancel our plans. This is just beyond me.

Anyway...

I dunno... I understand the frustrations that can occur when crashes happen, but without knowing more details, we cannot unequivocally state it's the programs fault... It could be something you did, or didn't do... And personally, I prefer software that can show a bit of humor and not take itself too seriously.

I have some exports on the way so in the meantime here are more details:

On that video I recently posted on the forum, my client's only change was to replace the "decision maker" at around 1mn in (in the burnt in TC) to a silhouette that way we don't give him a specific gender.

Easy I tell myself and I open my scene. I composite everything outside and from asp I export 4 different plates for that one scene. The one in question only show the three characters and the speech bubbles. It ordinarily exports fine.

What I do is I colorize the bone group of my decision maker to a dark blue with 100% opacity. Then I add a contour to the whole thing by using a yellowish drop shadow on the upper group with 0 offset and 8 expansion so that it goes around the guy and his podium and makes the whole a little more present in the scene.
I also took off the red clothe out of bone group so that colorize doesn't affect it and it remains red.

At some point the camera moves to a two shot of the guy and the girl, causing the decision maker to go off frame for a few seconds. During export, the moment he starts going off frame, anime studio exporter crashes. whether I'm doing quicktime, png sequence or whatever. Just because I added these two layer properties.

But now I fixed it. I just hope it doesn't happen in the future in a more complex shot with moving bones and other elements I would not be able cheat my way around.

And as far as humor goes, there is a time and place for that. This is not it at all, to the contrary. And no matter what, there are manners the civilized world abides by for very good reasons. Why should I let a program I paid money for get comfortable with me in such stressful moment?
