every time I put something in a bone layer, it disappears. Anyone know how to fix this?

Huh? If the bone layer little triangle is pointed down you can add other layers. If it is pointed sideways, it hides all layers that has been added to it. It will not accept a layer.

If you're talking about the layer's content in the workspace, the bone layer may be translated or have its visibility turned off.
