The great jumping display mistery

Hello all. You can expect some more newbie questions as I progress on my project.
Here is one:
I notice that on some layers, with the transform or add point tool, when I click, the whole display offsets by about one pixel, and gets back to normal upon release. It is of course very annoying when doing precision tasks. I suspect this alerts of something wrong with the layer. Not sure what.
This may be related: Sometimes I notice bugs in my shapes:
- A point will not curve. I have to erase it, and close the shape again
- My curve profile will take different sizes in the same shape. It will be one size on most of the curve, then gets tiny between two points for example. How is thic controlled?
Thanks!
