Hi, can anyone shed light on what this error code means? One of my students is getting this when trying to open her anime project on her MAC. She is able to open the project on one MAC, but not her other MAC.

From my experience the "Unknown keyword" is a result of trying to open a new version of an Anime Studio file in an old version.

The "unknown keyword" means that there is a feature in the file format that the old version of Anime Studio doesn't recognize. This would explain why it opens on one computer but not another. Make sure that the computer it won't open on has the same version of Anime Studio. Sometimes even a "dot" update may cause problems like this depending on whether a new feature was added.

EDIT: this is just a guess. I haven't seen that "pre-multiplied movie" line before and not sure what new feature it would apply to the file format. It could be a new type of render setting that is saved in the file format that isn't recognized in the older version of Anime Studio.

Just to be clear there is no way to change a newer version file to open in an older version. Once a file is saved in the newer version format you can't go back.

About the backwards compatibility issue with saving/opening project files: A friend of mine uses MAC (I use primarily PC), he says that he was able to save a file in 10 and then open it in 9.5. I was not able to do this with my project files. To your knowledge, is this different between PC and MAC?

That is impossible.

There is no way to open a file saved in v10 in 9.5. Trust me it's impossible.
Most likely this may be confusion based on which file was opened by the user. Maybe there were multiple copies of the same file and they opened a different one?

I use primarily Mac for Anime Studio. I am attempting to create a script to save v10 files to v9.5, so trust me... I know that opening v10 in v9.5 is impossible.

So, even if the file originated in 9.5 -- He still would not be able to go to 10 and then back to 9.5? Maybe he opened the file, but did not initiate a save in 10? Well to be honest with you, I've heard many "untruths" from this person in the past, so I'll write it off as that. I appreciate your time. Anime Studio is a real pleasure to learn. I'm looking forward to finally getting a chance to do more than simple test runs.

If you open the file in v10, play around with it, and close it without saving it will still open in v9.5. It hasn't been saved so it won't be updated. If you save it, then it won't open in v9.5.
