Hi. I made a tutorial about using Photoshop (or any other graphics program) to make 8bit / 16bit videogame pixel art and recommended settings for Anime Studio when importing the sprites:

I was just recently creating 8-bit type characters. Needless to say, they didn't come out looking this good. Could have used this tutorial then! Ah well, time to build that time machine!

Only here at work, it was for a "live action video game" we were working on for a training course.
