Bind to layer, points, or regional flexi binding?

I'm curious as to what method most people do in their rigging, whether it's bind to layer, bind points, or the normal flexi-binding? Or is it really a case by case basis to determine the best method?

Depend on the case here, but I like point and layer binding better most of the time, more control, or more predictable if You will, at least as as far as I am concern!

For me it all depends on the type of character and the situation. Actually, I can't even remember only using one type of binding for a character. Most times there is a mix of all types of binding. Sometimes I only need point binding, sometimes flexible binding, sometimes both on the same layer.

Since 9.5, I prefer to never bind an entire layer, because the layer (and everything inside it, if i'ts a group, bone, etc) can't be controlled by smart bones.
So normally I work with both (use selected bones for) Flexi-binding and point binding.
