Don't think I suggested this before ... we're doing some perspective drawing now at school and I wondered if it might be possible to create a non-rendering guide line in Moho along with the grid to allow you to mark the horizon line and vanishing points and snap to them. Might be a cool way to quickly draw some things -though I guess you need to be able to place the points beyond edge of the screen.

Why not do one yourself?
I dont think you could rotate the grid but you could do your own with lines and rotate that one so it's a surface stretched in depth, add some other useful planes, put it all in a group and set this to dont render and finally save it to a mohofile from which you can import it to other scenes.

Me myself is using exactly the same method you suggested, rylleman.
Its a bit of work to set up everything but it is very useful.
Bupaje you should try doing it.

I've played with just importing an image layer with the vanishing points and horizon line -and it does work. I am not recommending an essential feature, just a 'would be nice' feature. The ability to snap to the horizon line and vanishing points would be useful and hard to emulate with the method you suggest.

Again this is a random suggestion. I think it might be useful but acknowledge that it isn't indespensable.

Why doesn't it work to import a picture? No, Moho wouldn't be able to snap to lines in the picture, but shouldn't it work as a guide?

What I was refering to was drawing within Moho. I can have a project say 400x400 and import a layout image say 2000x400 with the horizon line and vanishing points out to the far right and left (otherwise you'd only get extreme perspective like a worms eye or bird's eye view) and then when I draw without guide lines I have to pan to far left and right for each line to make sure they go to the vanishing point (or zoom far out and in to see the offscreen stuff).

If I then want to draw windows, doors, light poles etc I'd have to pre draw these recession lines to the vanishing point on my image first or in Moho create a new layer to draw lines while panning far right and left and then go back to my drawing layer and use these guidlelines. This would work but my suggestion was only thinking outloud how it might be nice to be able to attach a 'starter' guideline to the vanishing points offscreen and then some way when I draw a building I can drag a new guideline already attached to the offscreen vanishing point and snap the building top to it. Then I want to add rows of windows I I drag down another guide which is attached to the vanishing point and use the to create my row of windows in correct perspective.

Not sure if I am over complicating it but that was where the idea came from. I can off course do an image first and draw in the horizon line, vanishing points and a bunch of horizontal points leading out to the vanishing points and make sure whatever I draw touches one of these lines.

If this is for a class, then you may be required to make your drawing using certain techniques. But, if you're just using Moho, you could also draw the building from a side view with no perspective at all, and then rotate/position the layer in 3D to put it into the perspective you desire.

I am studying perspective but not trying to take a shortcut with Moho. :) The class simple sparked a thought which apprently was ill concieved. ;) I will probably draw perspective the usual way -just was an off the cuff thought.

Tke a trip to 27 bobs. Quite a few interesting ideas there. including an interactive Flash perspective component...

Ah-ha! Yes! That's the idea. Something like that -not real 3D, just 2D and the ability to snap to the grid lines.

Again - I don't need this. I just thought it might be a cool addition if LM ever finds himself with a rainy day and a loss for innovative ideas. ;)

would be a good addition, definitely. i will sing for rain tonight.

Ha. ;) Sorry I fancy myself an 'idea guy' boldly solving all those problems that don't really need solutions. ;)
