Recently I get more private messages again from people asking for help. And I know I'm not the only one. Folks, for two reasons that's the wrong way to ask.
1. The forum is there for a reason: a solution, when found, should be available to all members. Keeping a solution private is rude to them.
2. I already spend too much time in the forum. Asking me for spending even more time in private conversations, or maybe investigate your file, or even correct it, is way too much. (I may do that for money, though.)
If someone offers you to look into the file: fine. If someone invites you to mail them in private: fine. If you are already a friend: of course. But in all other cases keep the questions and discussions public, in the forum where they belong.
(And work through the tutorials, and read the manual, and search the forum first.)

Don't forget a third reason that's the wrong way to ask: asking publicly means more people to help which means more and faster answers!
