Has Masking been fixed in 9.5????

When I mask a group within a group it does not show correctly in the workspace, but it shows correctly in the render.
Has this been fixed?

For example.... I mask the eyes group in the head layer. The head layer being the add mask. Then the eyes are a group where the pupils are masked in the eyes. And when I rotate the head the eye group should stay within the head layer for a side angle.
But in the workspace it shows the eyes exiting the head (Not being masked, but when you render it the Eyes disappeared in the mask as I wanted.

Can Someone try this and confirm if this has been fixed in Anime Studio pro 9.5 or do you know a workaround to get it to show correctly in the workspace?

If stuff doesn't shop up at the wrong position it's not a matter of masking, but poor bone binding, positioning, flipping, origin setting.

Based on your description I would have to say that no, the complex multigrouped type masking incorrect display has not been fixed.

thanks for the fast reply.

There is no binding at all.

Just try in 9.5 to make a group folder ... draw a circle (Head) on a layer and make and activate masking. Make the circle layer the add to mask.
Then in the same group layer add a sub group.
In that sub group create a layer and draw 2 small circles (Eyes) within the first big circle (Head). Activate masking on the sub group and make this eyes layer an Add to mask.
Next ...create another layer in the that subgroup and draw Pupils. Put the pupils above the eyes. And then mask the pupils layer.

So basically the pupils will mask in the eyes.
And the eyes group should mask in the head.
So when I do head turns.. the eyes should mask in the head and they disappear on profile views.

But when you take the eye group. (Sub group of eyes and pupils.) It does not mask in the head layer in the workspace. It bleeds through. But when you render it .. it masks fine.

strange?

Does anyone know a fix to this so I can see it work in the workspace?

Ok just read Vern's comment. Thanks for the reply Vern.

I am surprised to see this was not fixed in the update.
Does anyone know a workaround?

It is such a pain to see masking not working in the workplace but works in the render.

Anime studio programmers please help and update this for 9.6.

What I do is create temporary or placeholder layer/s that represents any masking that doesn't display correctly. I set the layer/s to not render. To display only in preview. If masking or other layers are also causing display issues in preview, I hide those in preview.

For example I have a character with eyes and eyelids that use masking. The masking result for this particular character wouldn't let me see the eyeballs. Since I used bones for everything I just simply duplicated the eyeball layer outside the masking and was able to see it for posing. I set the duplicate eyeballs to not render.

Also you can reevaluate your masking set up. It could be that there is an alternative method that doesn't create the issue. If you are using 9.5 there is now nested layer bone control. It might be possible to simplify rigs and masking.

I do create eyes with different types of masking and I don't have issues with display. It could be your masking set up is... uh... I am not saying it's wrong... but there might be a better way.

Other than that no workaround that I'm aware of.

Thanks Vern again..\
I Think for the mean time I might revert to this Image

It can be a workaround.
