Multiple layers controlled by single smart bone

From every tutorial I've seen for AS9 smart bone function, it makes it look like when setting up an action for a smart bone, you can manipulate points in any layer and they should all move in concert accordingly in the mainline when the smart bone is manipulated. Here's my problem and example: I have a smart bone controlling the upper arm of my character. When I move the arm in one direction, I change points in my arm layer but I also want points in my torso layer to move as well. When preparing the action for the first half of the movement this works fine. But when I try to create the action to move the smart bone in the other direction, when I try to manipulate a point in the torso layer I get a really weird effect - when I drag a point to where I want it, as soon as I let go of the mouse button it shoots instantly into the opposite direction. e.g. if I pull a point down and to the left, it snaps back far up and to the right. Is this a glitch of some kind or is there something specific I am doing wrong? :? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds strange, but double check your frame 0 isn't highlighted. To has caused issues in the past due to the new way you can manipulate multiple frames once...
