Moving smart bones to opposite direction woes

Having some difficulties with part of my smart bone rig. Here's my example - I have a smart bone for my front-facing character's left upper arm (bone name LUA). I created the smart action for raising the arm to the outside of the body (action correspondingly named LUA). Moving back to the mainline it looks great. Then I make another action labeled LUA 2 and translate my points in that action window as the bone moves the arm in front of the body in the opposite direction as before. Looks great in the LUA 2 action line, but moving back to the mainline everything becomes all garbled (nut the first movement towards the outside still looks fine). Any ideas about what I'm doing wrong?
