Translating points in AS pro 9

I just converted from AS 7 to 9, and i'm getting really frustrated when using point translation through time. If I have an animation where I have been changing the points of a shape through the timeline, i'm finding the changes I make further down the timeline are affecting and changing the positions of my points earlier in the timeline (towards time 0). Why would this be happening? AS 9 has some cool stuff, but I'm getting frustrated learning it's quirks.
Thanks

A new feature in AS9 is the ability to move relative position changes. It's very useful, but requires some time to get used to it.
If are moving points or layers and you have some keyframes selected, the movement you make is also applied to the keyframes you have selected.
So, for example, if you have a 3 keyframes animation of a ball bouncing in the left of the screen and you need to move it to the right, you select the 3 keyframes and move the ball to the right and that will maintain the original bouncing. In previous versions, you had to move each keyframe one by one.
Now, to avoid frustration, be sure no keyframe be selected when you make a movement. If there are keys selected, you can press Enter on the keyboard to deselected them*. Also, if you click anywhere in the timeline, the keyframes are deselected too.
*if you press Enter once, the keyframes are deselected; if you press it twice, the keys and the selected points are deselected.
