Using mouth switch layers in Character bone setup

OK, in one of the tutorials, you setup a character's bones, by separating all the body parts using the translate points tool. If I want to include a mouth switch layer in my character, you need to use the translate layer tool which doesn't seem to work properly. So how can I do this?

don`t think so.
create a switch-layer. it only has to contain the mouthpart; image 1: closed, image 2: little more open, image 3: even more open etc. ....

put the bones layer together with the swith layer in a group layer and move it around as you like.
hope that answered your question.

I presume you want to attach a Switch-Layer to one of your bones.
Select the Switch-Layer in the Layer palette
Select "Bind Layer" in the Tool palette
Select the bone

Yes, using the switch layers and attaching them to a main bone in the character gives you great possibilities to do nice stuff. I even use the interpolation feature in the switch layers for headturns hand gestures etc.
