That is well done.

I'm interested to know more about the Synfig features used to automate it. It looks as if there is a bit of frame-by-frame in there.

My question would be, did they use Synfig just as a drawing tool? Or did they use the automatic tweening? Or a bit of both?

They used Synfig for the full character animation including drawing, morphing and compositing. If there were some kind of frame by frame, they used one vector drawing per frame(s) and switched one by one between them.
I'm not sure about the backgrounds but I think that everything was done in Synfig.

Nice man. This kept me interest from start to finish. However I wish there was some sound, the camera effects were great!
