Following a path...?

I have tried making a round ball follow a simple bounce style path... with out success !
What I can't seem to do is have the ball match up to the path. I've followed the instructions posted on " cartoonlearning.com " with out success.
The ball does not attach to the start point and follow the lines path.
Iit seems to have a mind of it's own and does not line up with the drawn path.
I'm sure it is me but can someone help me accomplish this task ?
Thanks
Ron
P.S. love the program .. really looking forward to mastering it.

Those are scripts I've installed. Most are found in the Scripting section of this forum, some are from the other forum. My suggestion on scripts is to go slow and only install scripts you need now else you wind up with lots of unused tools. Here's a link to the tool I used in the video to get you started. It's one of the most useful scripts I've installed.

Jonbo,
Thanks for replying and info .
I discovered that
creating the ball
in the program seemed to be the problem.
However if I imported a image of a ball, I was able to make it work (
after a night of trial and errors) and follow the path. . . !
I'm really new with this program but am really excited about learning and using it on our Bass clubs site.
I'm the Clubs webmaster.
My next goal is to make a bass run after a lure animation.... ha ha !
I've got lots of plans and ideas for this program once I master it.
Both for my business and club web sites..... can't wait !
I am using the intro program so I don't think that I have all the tools you were referring to.
Am I right about that? Does the intro program 8 have those tools ?
Do you think there will be another upgraded program sale on the full version soon ? (
cash is tight right now ).
I saw they had one I had just missed....
Thanks again.....
Ron

Hey Ron, glad to hear you got it to work although you should be able to create a ball in AS like I did in the video. If you are using Debut, then there are tools that you don't have available but none were used in the video except a custom drawing tool that I installed that I used to make my path. It can be done with the add points tool, so no problem there. Yes, Smith Micro usually has a year end sale, so keep your eye out for it.

the important think with follow path is that the layer is attached to the path at its origin. make sure you use the origin tool to center the ball (it looks like a + sign), then attach it to the path. Your problem with 'a mind of its own' is probably due to the origin being somewhere funny so the ball is being rotated by the origin as it follows the path. Perhaps importing a ball image automatically centers the origin on import so that's why it seemed to work?
hope that helps as you work out your workflow

Ok chipping away at my project:
I got it to follow the path OK.
I had imported a gif (lure) image as the traveling subject.
now i ned to make it follow the path in one direction ... head first. I saw on one link that you can make the head a leading point but can't seem to find the commands ?
termenology seems to be my problem finding that.
So now how do I make the lure follow the paths direction head first ?
Again thanks for the help and time.

in the object (bait!) layer properties: set Options "rotate to follow path". You'll need to make sure that the object when drawn is in the right place and correct orientation - but that's just a question of rotating and/or translating the object (or resetting the layer origin).

Hi,
I do not see a path when I click on Follow Path. I am using the Pro verions 8.1. I demonstrate in this screen recording.

Follow Path tool uses a vector line as path. Instead of moving the layer, draw a line on it.
