Problem using Crayon Effect in style

Imagine, if you will, a landscape featuring a lush green area. Within that area I have placed a darker green area representing scrub land. In order to avoid a definite demarcation of this dark green area I have used the Crayon Effect (for the first time) and the preview render looks pretty satisfactory. It certainly looks a lot less like painting by numbers. However, the animation shows this area in constantly moving ! So, the question is, how can I acheive the same effect and stop the area from appearing to be in constant motion ?

You could probably achieve this same effect by using some of the other brushes or a custom brush to fill in that area. Since it's a stroke it wouldn't move around unless you animate it on purpose.

It's not only about which effect you use, but also where and in which order. In your case I assume you have a range of different frames to which you apply the effect. Try this: apply the effect on one frame, then stretch it over time.

It would help if you could post a short example of your scene so we can see which parts are moving at all.

Hey slowtiger, he's talking about the new crayon effect in AS8 that's like the gradients and soft edge effects in that you apply them to the fill. It does indeed move much like if it had the noisy option applied to it but with no key framing. You could try this pete, export a single frame of your landscape with this effect and then reimport and replace the landscape with this image, effectually "baking" in this effect.

Ups, my mistake - I thought I was in a completly different forum ...

Jonbo's right. Bake the effect to make sure the landscape doesn't move.

Thanks for the information. I will do as jonbo suggests and export a single frame ready to import back as an image. However, the question remains about this feature. What on earth would one use it for ? I suppose it might work for a scene involving the sea which is pretty much in constant motion....

For the record I deleted all layers except the scrub land as discussed. (I guess I could have simply disabled rather than delete them). I exported a single frame as a .png file and then re-imported it to the project. It worked perfectly. Thanks for the good advice.
