Improve Sea Waves

I made this calm sea and I'm wondering how to improve the "water movement" drawing two different sea water layers and overlapping and moving them on 50% of opacity and putting them on a non-moving third water layer with 100%

How can I make it better without losing the "calm" aspect of it?

There's a video:

Not much to be seen in the video because of compression ...

I see a right-to-left movement which seems quite fast, more like a river than a sea. I think you're much better off with one or two overlay layers of fine horizontal lines, which you move only a bit up and down.

I'll try to make it more visible, but there are two semi-transparent layers wich goes from right to left the first and viceversa the other one, the third one doesn't move.

I'll also try do give them an vertival movement.

Thank for the tips!

I wouldn't worry too much of the sea movement unless you were to zoom in to it because it were the place where the action happens. If the action is in the ground I would just make a static sea.

It looks like it's flowing like a stream. A sea has more of a random lighting effect. Like dimming the lighting in and out in multiple areas with constrained movement.

But like Genete said, a static sea would be fine as long as it's not the focus.

Just about every one on the forum helped design this water. If you want to use it I'll send it to you.

Sbtamu, that water effect is very good! :D

How do you made it? Maybe I can modify it to obtain the desired effect!

*EDIT*
In the meanwhile, I made a new clip:

Use high definition!

Can you post the project file on how you made that?

That was very good effect.

It seems I can not do a video tutorial on this. My screen capture program crashes every time I render the water in GIMP. So I'll just upload the files and you can look at them. I will also post a link to a Tutorial in youtube that shows how to make the water.

The AS 7.2 Pro file.

The water(you will have to convert this to a file AS can read)
