Can't figure out how to keep feetlocked

My first post; I'm a brand newbie working on my first animation.

My problem is that I have created an "action" that is to have a character rise from a sitting position, ie. stand up. In the action file, when I play the animation, all five mannequins seem to perform properly. However, when I apply that action to a character, instead of the character standing up, the torso and head stay in place and the feet drop down as the legs straighten. I've tried to lock the feet bones but that doesn't seem to work or I did something wrong. What did I screw up?

Thanks!

Does the characters have the same bone setup as the mannequin?

Do you use the wizard characters?

I am using the Wizard character' body; I replaced the head/face with images.

Okay, I see what you mean. You need to re-make the action like this. On frame 1, use bone lock on both feet, then use the bone translate tool on the pelvis bone to move the character into the seated position. Go to the frame you want the action to stop, and use the reset on the pelvis to return it to the upright position. Then unlock the feet on the next frame. This works for the front3/4, side, and back3/4, you have to play around with the other two views a little to get a good action for them. Does this make sense?

I'm sure it makes sense. I'll just have to try to do what you suggest to see if I can make it work.

Thanks very much for the help. I''ll provide follow-up after I've messed around with the redo.

You're welcome. Here's a quick stand up action I just did. As I said, the front and back views need work.

There are several ways to lock feet properly, I made a video tutorial showing one of them here.

Jonbo,

With your help, I have now made several pretty good action scripts.

Maybe I will be able to assist you with an animation challenge someday...not likely, but if I could, I would.

Thanks again!
