I've just downloaded Anime Studio debut 8.

When I first started the program the playback controls were on the screen.

I played about with the various functions and menus just to get a feel for things and, in doing so, closed the timeline.

I went to window>timeline and the timeline came back - however, the playback buttons were not there.

I've searched the help menus etc - but cannot find out how to open the playback menu again!

I've failed with this software before I've even animated anything!

Please can someone tell me how to bring back the playback buttons!

In 'Window' menu at top of screen click on 'Timeline' again to redock it?

Sorry for asking such a dumb question.

It just wasn't obvious to me - and I was tearing my hair out.

No question is a dumb question if it's not obvious. As long as you can now enjoy what the software has to offer

I lose the control buttons when undocked also. But the shortcut keys still work, Space bar to start and stop play back and Shift backspace to bring back to frame zero.

Did you noticed the playback controls are behind the windows' taskbar?
Just maximize the AS window.

I just recreated my error - just to see what you meant - and you're absolutely right.

Nope, but I push down the time line widow and hid them.
