How do I properly bone a palm tree?

I'm new with Anime Studio 6 and I'm trying to animate a palm tree. Every time I manipulate one of the leaves in the top, the palm tree violently contorts. Am I doing this right?

- each leaf's top bone should be connected to the trunk bone
- have a look at your bone strength settings.

Ok, I will try that. I'll come back here with results.
EDIT: OMG, thanks to the above and bottom post! Everything is working perfectly now. *1+ praise*

Answer to your topic: With lots and lots of lube...
Serious answer to your question:
Your bone parenting looks wrong. All the top bones should be parented to the trunk bone. Select each of the bones at the top and with the reparent bone tool (shortcut key P) click on the trunk bone so that you have red arrows going from the top bones to the trunk.
EDIT: Damn it, you're not living up to your name slowtiger!

You might want to put at least two more bones in the trunk if you want the tree to sway.
@ponysmasher; I was going to say lots of coconut oil and a wide stance

Should I position them side by side..?

No, it would probably be easiest to delete the one bone for the trunk and then create a three bone chain going up the trunk. You would then need to re-parent the top bones in the leaves to the top bone of the bone chain in the trunk.

Something like this:

have you tried dynamic bones with your leaves, would allow you to animate the trunk only and the leaves would automatically get animated.

Since I am just starting, I have no idea how to do that or what dynamic bones are

Using the rig shown by Eddy and just using the default bone dynamics on the bones for the leaves(branch) and binding the proper points to their bones.
