Antialiasing bug on (white or grey) images

Hi,

I have this problem with imported images: Sometimes a white border appears around the edge of the image when rendering with antialiasing. It's not every image and I believe it has a preference for bright or white/grey images.

Possible workarounds seem to be :
1. render without antialiasing and resize in another app
2. use image with transparency (png) and add transparent edge to every image?
.. but I didn't have the time to test this stuff yet.

Are there any issues reported with vectors? I've noticed there are several antialiasing related threads.


edit :

transparent images give the same results.

bigger size works, obviously.. but i have to render at 4 times the size to make it look good??

Yes, there have been AA issues wiuth 7.x and on.

To render bigger then resize implies rendering a 1280X720 image to 5120X2800 to get 4x4 anti-aliasing, not very useful.

Also happens with vector sometimes, usually rendering a bit larger then reducing solves it.

So what should I do?

Let's say I want my final project to be at 720p resolution.. what size should I render to in order to make the problem invisible?

(though I think my system could handle 5120X2800.. once :D)

Even if you render at high resolution then resize in Photoshop, you will get AA artefacts.

I'll render without antialiasing then blur/resize in photoshop. Should make things look smooth enough.

I don't know if this helps but I have had some success with different layer-blending modes which helped me get rid of a greyish fringe I had on some of my vectors.
