Duplicate a shape

select all the points of the shape then hit ctrl+c to copy, then ctrl+v to paste. Use the translate points tool to move the new shape as it will be created in the same place as the original. You can also paste the new shape to a different layer, just select the different layer before you hit ctrl+v.
