Moving layers that have animation in them

I'm running ASPro8 on a Mac (Snow Leopard).

I'm revising an animation I made previously in ASPro7. It's done mainly using images, with bones to warp them. So, the animation tracks consist of bones moving as well as layer translation. Now, in the revision, I have to take these layers animated with bones and layer translation, and move the layers so that the same animation occurs exactly the same way, but in a different location. I'm having trouble with this. I go to frame 0 and move the layer using the Layer Translation tool, but when I go back to the timeline where the animation occurs it's still in the previous location. I've also tried using the Layer Origin tool at frame 0, and this doesn't seem to work very well, either. Most of these things are in group layers already. What is the method for moving an animated layer to a new location so the animation moves with it to the new location?

I hope I've explained this clearly enough.

thanks,
Jack

Try to put all those layers into another layer and move only this?

Alternatively go into the top layer of each part and erase all animation from that, to make sure there's no layer translation left.

Did you make any camera movements?

Hi slowtiger,

I had briefly thought about putting each thing into a group layer, but hadn't tried it (laziness on my part - there are a lot of elements that need this). I just tried it with one thing, and it worked fine. So that's the solution for me, where I don't have to re-animate everything all over again. Thanks for that solution.

I found a strange thing happening yesterday when I was trying to solve this problem. When I was on frame 0, I would choose one of the layers and move it's location using the Layer Translate tool, and I found that a new keyframe was set automatically about three seconds into the timeline, that put the layer back at the old location. I deleted that keyframe and then it worked at the new location. Very strange, maybe a bug or something, as my time cursor was set to 0. I've found lots of weird eccentric behavior in ASPro over the years, but this is the strangest so far. Maybe it's something in my file, I don't know.

Anyway, I think I've got a handle on the problem now, thanks for the help.
