reduce points on a shape

I've created a shape with the Freehand tool. It has too many points on it and I want to reduce the points / optimise the shape.
Normally I would manually remove points and adjust the curves etc.
But was wondering if there is a quicker way to do it? I can't see an optimise/smooth shape tool.

you could tweak the freehand tool before using it so it puts down less points then add detail where it's needed - might be quicker than starting with too many points?

I've always found the freehand tool more trouble than it's worth personally - using mouse clicks gives you the most optimised shape from the get go...

Ok, sound like a better idea. I usually only work with add point tool but was thinking I was missing out on a faster workflow with the freehand tool. Thanks.

Freehand tool

I'm with funksmaname!

I've been using AS for more than a year now and I never use the freehand tool. It's almost become second nature for me to draw squares and circles without fills and just adding points and using the bending tool to make curved lines or angles. When you learn the short cuts it becomes faster than drawing. On a similar note, if you buy any content from cartoon solutions that is supposedly "made for anime studio," just keep in mind they used some kind of tracing software to convert there artwork which leaves A TON of unwanted drawing points and don't have actual AS stokes on their objects. I bought a hand pose pack from them and ended up tracing them all to reduce the points. It was a pain in the ass!!!! I just thought it was relevant since it was about reducing points!!! :)
