I want to invite everyone to join in on an animation challenge/collaboration!
I posted the "Freddy" character rig (most recent version with additional arm and leg options:
http://www.mediafire.com/?zb7x1lscsud2w25 original version:
http://www.mediafire.com/?8yfh8zanrdow92u ) that you can use to animate a short piece if you wish.
You can animate individually or coordinate with others to tie your animations together. I will also try to keep up with this thread if anyone wants to share what they have come up with or to get feedback.
Format:
The character file should work in AS 5,6,&7 Debut and Pro. Please leave the project settings at 24 fps and dimensions of 960x540. If you choose to animate a piece, please upload the .anme to a file sharing site and post the link or pm Neeters_guy with the link. Neeters_guy will edit the animation together and host the final video on youtube. Let's say Dec 31 is the deadline to post your link.
This thread has background info:

I'm working on a moonwalk so if anyone wants to tie in with other dance moves, let me know! :)

Hi lwaxana,
those artifacts hurts my eyes... Aren't they avoidable??

Good point, Genete, I don't like the artifacts either. I just uploaded a new freddy file with standard limbs in addition to the mandcon limbs. If people still want to use the mandcon limbs, there is the technique of covering those spots with a circle of the line color (1A1A1A). I'll update the original post.

Our first entry is by Gregino. Duffman says "Are you ready to get DUFFED? Oh, yeah!"
Thanks, Gregino.
Two more weeks to send me your links.

Ok, I'm looking at the file and I really think it could be improved. For example, if I want to move only the torso, the legs moves too. It hasn't the possibility of animate only the neck neither. You would gain a lot of freedom if the ball would be inside the bone layer, this way you could animate the layer order during the animation to make the ball pass between the arms, legs and on top and behind the character.
Ok, but I like the contest and don't want to be party pooper. I'm gonna animate the character just like it's now and I'll try to do my best.

Awesome! Can't wait to see it. :)
Selgin--I agree with your points. You (and everyone) are more than welcome to modify the file and rigging so it works for what you want to do.
If people posted the .anme of their modified rigs we could all learn different techniques and there would be more opportunity for collaboration. For example, I'm thinking about animating a body turn using a switch layer. One of the layers might be a useful starting point for someone else making a rig modification for some other gesture.
Added layers and actions could even be combined into a sort of super rig at the end. I think it just depends on where people choose to take the challenge.

Okay, I decided to just combine the double bounce walk and moonwalk I made earlier.

If anyone wants to add on to the end (the part where he's standing still), I have posted the ASP7.1 file here.
http://www.mediafire.com/?tqbo5cholrhhk4a Just animate the layer "Freddy You Decide" with visibility beginning on frame 228. Also please post to let us know so that we don't have multiple people working on that same segment. After you're done, post the file and see if anyone else wants to add onto the end.
I think it would be fun to add lip sync to the final walk/dance sequence. If anyone has ideas of what he could say, feel free to post ideas. It may depend on what gets added to the end, if anything.

One more week to come up with a fun animation using the Freddy rig. Just for kicks, I took the liberty of making an additional front view here:
Freddy Front View anme file
It would be great to see a couple more entries to fill out the video.

Neeters guy, your abdomen rigging solves a lot of problems I have. That will come in very handy! Also yay for additional hand poses!
I used your rig to make a quick animation. Wish I had more time to fine tune it and give it a sense of weight, but I won't have my AS7 computer for the next few days. So here it is:

Just a reminder that dec 31 is the last day to submit some Freddy animation. I got a sneak peak of the animation we have so far and it's looking awesome.

Hi lwaxana!
I've been on this lip sync kick lately and I thought I'd try a little something with your rig. It was just a real quick thing but it doesn't look too bad. Freddy reminded me of futurama so I used a Troy Maclure sound clip!

Guyver--lol that is awesome and expressions are perfect. Thanks for posting this! I should have mentioned this earlier, but if you want to be included in the main collaboration video we can only edit in animation that you/we have all the rights to (such as audio). Sorry I didn't mention that sooner.

No biggie

No worries lwaxana!
I was just doing for a bit of fun! I just really liked your character and wanted to mess with it. I know you can't use my animation with audio you don't own but I still thought I'd share this one with you as well. Just another fun animation. Let me know when the collab video is done. I can't wait to see it!!!!
