Hi, Some weeks ago I bought the book Animated Performance by Nancy Beiman (I recommend it
here).
The book, rather than a description of technical aspects of animation, is about giving life and feelings to the animated characters.
This video is based in an exercise of that book, animate a character in a mood with respect to a ball.

The anme file is pretty simple, only tricks with layer order and a mask the head. you can download here

Thank you Selgin for the link to the book and your example. Your work always inspires me.
Currently I do more reading than posting here, but I intend to start putting up snip-its of what I'm working on.
The animation will be about 5 minutes in length, no voices just music. The only part of the characters you will see are their feet and the lower part of their legs. The setting is a turn-of-the-20th-century American dance hall. Say around 1910 or so. It's a gal meets guy story all told with the feet. The music is from the period of course.

Really nice! The performance shows the character feelings clearly. Not to mention the body turns and action look great!

PD: swf format doesn't support AS masks, so eyes doesn't look good on turns.
