Thought this maybe of interest, an online (and free) raster to vector conversion programme using
AutoTrace & ImageMagic

Can AS use the output?

The .ai output works if you use small images as input - say 400-600 px maximum dimension. Otherwise you get the "too many curves and points in this file. Only part of the file has been imported error..." I assume that you can tweak the settings to compensate for this, but I haven't had much luck doing that. Prepping the image and simplifying/downsizing before uploading works a treat. Although I would welcome any other feedback about how to tweak the parameters of the site. I keep getting wiki error messages when I try and access the help files...
