Neither box nor lasso select works. You have to select points or lines.

works fine here... did you copy over the utility folder when installing?

Weirdly I just tried it and they both work. The only things that I have done recently is add some updated scripts, and removed one. 'Swiss Army Knife' was the one I removed as I found duplicate functionality in other script tools. Maybe there was a conflict. Who knows? I suspect no one will have this problem. At least it works now - I thought it was going to be one of those things that only affects my machine. Phew.

i also use swiss army tool - they both work fine
