I'm sure I failed to mention in my first post that I am somewhat slow ( I like to think silly) and am new this animation thing. I have now sucsessfully got the video in the timeline, I found a converter to Mov (prism, it works well) thanks for the Help!
It's about 1070 frames. and the audio ( not the video )changes speeds numerous times. It gets faster than much slower than even faster, never returning to the correct speed. I've tried to import a few times thinking it was a one time glitch but it happens every time. I've watched the MOV and it's fine.
Any Thoughts?

I'd suggest as this is still related to the previous issue, try not to seperate things across multiple threads as it makes them more difficult to respond to...

You might try a different mov type, or you might try exporting the animation, it may be just an issue of running in real time within AS.
To just play/export a region, alt+left/right click the timeline to set in/out points respectively - are the same portions always slow/fast or is it more 'random', if random it suggests a realtime processing issue... try exporting a funny portion and see if it plays back the same.

You could try another type of MOV encoding type (animation or sorenson3)

Is this happening while playing it inside AS? or is it the AS rendered movie file that audio will not play back as it should?
If it is inside AS then all other animations you have there will reduce the speed when playing it but it should not effect the rendered result.

Thanks for the responses! I'm not sure if you saw the "I'm Kinda Slow" part so I only understood a little of you replies.It doesn't appear to be random, each time I import it it changes speeds at the same places.
This video was done on my Sony Handicam and the audio and video are on the same channel(layer) so it seems very odd to me when the audio changes and is out of synch with the video.

If it is inside AS then all other animations you have there will reduce the speed when playing it but it should not effect the rendered result.

Does this mean as I add animation to my video it going to get all messed up but when I export it it will all look right. It seems like that's a pain.

I don't get the different types of MOV but today I'll experiment with format and I'll export the video just to see what happens.

I get this also. Mine is caused by pushing my computer's ram to its limit.

I am not a fan of MOV and I use AVI uncompressed which is rather large file but works best for me.

Selgin posted link to a good converter awhile back that I use 100% of the time now and it works really well.

If you have a lot of animated layers and other stuff happening in your AS project at the same time as you're watching the imported movie AS could choke and slow down the speed.
In the meny "Animation" you can choose "Allow frame skipping", then AS will try to keep original speed and skip to play some frames.
