I have a switch layer with 6 PNG images in it and on frame 12 I cycle back to frame 1 but when I try to change it back to smooth the option is not high lighted. I have to keep deleting frame 12 and add it back just so I can change it to what I want it to do.

The only 2 options highlighted are cycle and step.

Is this the way it's supposed to work or do I have something checked or unchecked that prevents me from editing this after I initially set it to cycle?

A switch layer can only have step or cycle key interpolation. All others are grayed out. If you want to CHANGE the step interpolation settings just select it again and change the numbers. If you want step interpolation just select it.

If you want "smooth" or "smooth interpolation" you need to set that in the switch layer properties by double clicking the layer and selecting the "switch" tab and checking "interpolate sub-layers".

This setting will override the step interpolation key frame settings and "smooth" or other type interpolation on the switch keys will still not be selectable.
