you know the feature where you can play the timeline and start moving layers and bones and point in realtime and then stop the timeline and play back the movement that you have just created on the fly

well..

wouldnt it be better if the realtime recording started when the mouse button was depressed and stopped when it was released rather than having to start the action then leap towards the bone that you want to move and try and do your movement while keeping an eye on the timeline and then having to scramble for the stop before it plays too far.

the lost layer tool does this already with its mousecap feature but only for layers

what im dreaming of is the ability to move arms etc about like a puppeteer using bones and points and it to be recorded in the timeline as i do it, but recorded with a" start stop" mouse control

my example is this- imagine you have a character talking and you start realtime recording from the mouse moving the head back and forth in time with the speech and then you release the mouse at the end of the audio stopping your head movement

then you return to the start of the audio and do the same realtime puppeteering for the arm, body, leg movement etc etc and before you know it you have animated your character through puppetry

i know nothing about scripting but if this realtime recording is already in place by pressing the play button couldnt it be changed or developed into a tool for mouse control like i have outlined?

anyone who could make this happen through scripting please have a go!

it could dramatically shorten a lot of animation production time i feel

thanks in advance to anyone willing to have a go

cheers!

(thanks to the member who encouraged me to continue with this suggestion)

Anyone got any views on this realtime puppeting idea?
Is it a good?, bad?, been done already, impossible?

Anyone?

I think it's a great idea, just the way you explained it! In Ramons Lost Layer Tool there is already for Layers as you said, this must mean that the code is there and someone with knowledge of lua could apply it to bones, point, layer rotation scaling etc...?
If I knew lua I would make a go for it, at least for bone rot, scale and transformation.

I dream of the 4th edition release of "Tomb of Horrors."
It's apparently coming out soon, and I even sat my Dungeon Master's exam in the hopes that they mail me the 4th edition update of the original. (My 9 year old thought it was pretty metal that I got my official DM qualification, but strangely my wife was less impressed.)

What about the rest of you guys, what do you dream of?

Yes I am the same, I have no clue scripting wise but I feel it must be possible to to have a feature that substitutes the mouse button for the play and stop on the time line as you manipulate bones and point in real time

Will one of the scripting gods tell me if this idea is possible or not within anime studio?

Cheers in advance for any time taken on this by anyone willing to have a look!
