I have a problem with my character. I have drawn the character and then put bones on it, but when i move the bones, the parts don't move with the bones. Also, I am doing the character set-up method in the manual.

What's going on?

Thanx in advance

HI! Only 2 points for begin...

- Are you totally sure that the vector layer is directly a sublayer of the Bone Layer?

- Are you in frame "0"? Translate Bone Tool doesn't work in the same way if you are in "0" as if you are in other frame.

Sorry, this is very basic but is only for we can situate us...

SURE!! Vector, or Image, or 3D Layers that you want to be deformed with the bones MUST be DIRECTLY inside a Bone (Or Switch if this has bones) Layers, cause the bones only affects children layers that are directly inside of they and, in this case, your Group Layer anules the effect of the bones, you can try to use another Bone Layer instead a Group Layer and add the bones that you need in it, I "never" use group layers, because Bone Layers has the same benefits and you can put bones or not when you want (or not) ...CIAO!

I have taken out the group layer and it works but when i use the 'offset bone' tool, to move the bones into the right place, it makes the head go all over the place.
Also when i move the bones, the head gets distorted.

...Hummm, is not easy resolve this to me if I don't see the file, any way it'll be better that you analize your proyect since the first steps (one by one) and maybe so you can see where is the problem, think that with this change things can be very differents now...

NO SOLUTION..

The problem is that there are no bones in the head. The result is that the vector points in the head (and the antenna thingy) will move with the nearest bone. For the antenna, the nearest bone appears to be the left shoulder, which is probably not what you want.

When you see the head move around in strange ways, it's because different parts of the head are moving with different bones, depending on which bone is closest to that part of the head.

To fix this, just add a bone in the head of the character to give all the head points something appropriate to move with. You could add some bones to the antenna too if you want, or just let it move with the rest of the head.

I tried to set up the bones again, so i deleted the whole thing and did a new bone layer and now it won't let me add bones. What's going on?

Are you sure the bone layer is active, and that the current time is set to frame 0?
