Unhelpful Error Message

Help! I can't get Papagayo to run on my PC. No problem installing the software, but when I try to run it I get the 'this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down' error message.

I'm using Windows 98 (which I guess is a pretty old operating system these days). Should Papagayo run on Windows 98? If so, any ideas what the problem may be?

Thanks in advance

try changing compatibility mode.
right-click the papagayo shortcut or .exe, properties

It seems that Papagayo may not be able to run on Windows 98. It uses some Unicode libraries, and Windows 98 is not compatible with Unicode.

Quick thank you to Lost Marble. I don't know what you did, but the new beta of Papagayo runs fine on Win'98.

Brilliant!

Help (again)!

Beta 2 solved the problem - Papagayo runs under Win'98.

But Beta 3 doesn't. I've just downloaded and installed it, and I'm back to my unhelpful error message.

So I've reinstalled Beta 2 (working again).

Any idea why 2 works, but 1 and 3 don't? What is it about Win'98?

I'm using Windows 98 and Papagayo Beta 1, and it works fine.

The plot thickens. I don't suppose you've tried beta 2 or beta 3 as well, have you?
