Scripts that change the playback marker position

Some scripts I have move the playback marker and sometimes it goes out of view.
To correct this I can click on the playback controls by clicking step forwards then clicking step back and the timeline refreshes to the correct location.
If a script that moves the timeline had a step forward and step back command at the end of that script would it be able to acheive the same results as doing it manually?
