Hi,

I need to create a cartoon for a NTSC 720 X 486 resolution. Is it best to setup a project in MOHO with that resolution or a different resolution and then resample the video to 720 X 486.

If I do use this resolution, will I then be able to output the cartoon at 720 X 576 resolution (for example).

Warning: I've had no real experience with this myself, this information is extracted from reading about the topic.

As I understand it, create on the computer screen at 720x540, then resample to 720x486 (for analogue D1 NTSC resolution).

For most digital technologies such as DVDs you should consider creating at 720x534 (according to the Adobe page) and resampling to 720x480 (DV NTSC) instead, because dealing with multiples of 8 and 16 is so much easier to process digitally, particularly when dealing with compression issues, which play a significant part in the digital video industry (including the MPEG-2 compresson used on DVDs).

When the squashed 720x486 image is broadcast or played back on a TV via a recording medium, the TV's rectangular pixels should show an image similar to your original computer screen's square-pixel 720x540 image.

For PAL it's best to create at 768×576, and resample to 720x576.

If you want the option of outputting to both PAL and NTSC - well, I have no idea. Anyone with actual experience in the area who can chime in?
