I hope that I am using the correct nomenclature.

When animating bones, the translucent pink and blue regions appear around each bone. I find them useful when setting up bones, but a big distraction when animating. Is there a way to turn them off?

Hmm, I'm not seeing those regions when animating. For me, they only show up at frame 0 (the setup frame). Are you sure you're seeing them at frames other than 0?
